Temporary Constructions

The Temporary Constructions is a material research project that developed a series of light installations to explore the potential use of unfired London construction clay as a renewable and recyclable material for product design.

The project offers a fresh perspective on ceramic lighting, by repurposing a local waste material and using it only to the extent that it can be recycled, with the aim of creating a closed-loop production system.

Inspired by non-human-centred design and object-oriented ontology, this project used system design and material development to critically examine our consumption habits in the face of the imminent depletion of finite natural resources.
